UNIFORM UPDATE

Our ref: ACH/FC

24 January 2008

Dear Parent/Guardian

Re: School Uniform Letter

I would like to take the opportunity to thank those parents who have given expressions of support to our efforts to improve the standards of school uniform. This support is very much appreciated.

Following the positive support and feedback we have received from Monday’s letter I felt it would be helpful to all concerned to make our position on this matter absolutely clear. It is very important that all of the boys are in full uniform and look as smart as possible.

• School uniform has many advantages, not least of which is helping to create a sense of identity, community and belonging to the school.
• In our experience where uniform is not worn and boys wear their street clothes for school, this has a negative effect on the ethos and atmosphere within
school by ‘bringing the culture of the street into the school’.
• This is not acceptable to us and I would reiterate that school uniform is compulsory for all pupils attending the school.
• This is a policy which has the full support of the governors of the school.
• Everyone should be absolutely clear that track suit bottoms and footwear that is not plain black are not part of school uniform and will not be allowed in school.
• Coats are to be removed in all lessons.
• Hoods/hats will not be allowed to be worn in school and any persistent offenders will have their coats/hats confiscated until 3.20pm

With effect from Monday, 28 January 2008 should any boys turn up for school in non uniform items, they will be met on the school drive and given a letter for their parents and sent home to change into correct uniform.

All pupils have been given information about correct uniform and this can be found in their student planners.  Uniform is as follows:

Years 7 – 10: Blue polo shirt with logo
Blue sweatshirt with logo
Black or dark grey trousers
Plain black footwear

Year 11: Black polo shirt with logo
Black sweatshirt with logo
Black or dark grey trousers
Plain black footwear

Ziggy’s, which is in Harpurhey near ASDA, supply our uniform and new polo shirts and sweatshirts can be purchased from there. If you have any difficulties in providing full school uniform for your son I would be grateful if you would contact his Head of Year to discuss this.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank you in advance for your support in helping to ensure that our boys are always in uniform and as smart as possible.

Yours sincerely,

A. Chambers

Uniform - January 2008

Our ref: ACH/FC

21 January 2008

Dear Parent/Guardian

I am disappointed to report that there seems to have been a drop in standards of school uniform being worn since the start of the new term.  I would therefore like to remind all parents and guardians of pupils at the school of the rules with respect to wearing uniform.  School uniform is compulsory for all pupils attending the school.  This is a policy which has the full support of the governors of the school.

Everyone should be absolutely clear that track suit bottoms and trainers are not part of school uniform and must not be worn to school.  With effect from Monday, 28 January 2008 should any boys turn up for school in non uniform items, parents will be contacted and the boys in question will be sent home to change into correct uniform.

It is very important that all of the boys are in uniform and look as smart as possible.  School uniform has many advantages, not least of which is helping to create a sense of identity and belonging to the school.  If you have any difficulties in providing full school uniform for your son I would be grateful if you would contact his Head of Year to discuss this.

All pupils have been given information about correct uniform and this can be found in their student planners.  Uniform is as follows:

Years 7 – 10: Blue polo shirt with logo
Blue sweatshirt with logo
Black or dark grey trousers
Black shoes and a strong school bag.

Year 11: Black polo shirt with logo
Black sweatshirt with logo
Black or dark grey trousers
Black shoes and a strong school bag.

Ziggy’s, which is in Harpurhey near ASDA, supply our uniform and new polo shirts and sweatshirts can be purchased from there.

Could I also remind parents that there have been two recent newsletters which have informed you of the review of school uniform that is currently being undertaken by governors.  Please let me have any responses to this review as soon as possible.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank you in advance for your support in helping to ensure that our boys are always in uniform and as smart as possible.

Yours sincerely,

A. Chambers
