Our School

Overview

Photo of pupils playing musicNorth Manchester High School for Boys is an 11-16 comprehensive school which specialises in visual arts and Media. Together with its sister school, North Manchester High School for Girls, it seeks to provide a high quality education for the whole of the community which it serves. Our aim is to ensure that each boy has the opportunity to learn in a happy, orderly, working atmosphere. We wish each pupil to leave the school equipped with the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to be happy and successful in adult life.

There are excellent facilities for Design, Art, Science and Sport and the Library has been converted into a modern, multi-media resources centre. There are excellent lunchtime facilities and each boy has the option of his own secure locker. An extensive refurbishment programme has provided improved laboratories, classrooms and provided each Faculty with IT facilities. Music and Drama are well developed and there is individual instrumental tuition as well as bands and ensembles. A new building providing a Drama Studio and a Music room, Recording Studio, a Band room, an additional IT room and a room for GCSE PE has recently been opened. The most recent development has been a new, floodlit, Multi-use Games Area and new playing fields behind the school. This must give us some of the best Sports Facilities in the City.
